We are committed to providing our expert knowledge to our customers to help  keep you safe, help you make the right choice when it comes to your energy supply as well as understand how LPG is shaping the future.

Emergency Gas Leak or Fire - LPG

In an emergency - for any outdoor gas leak or major fire please contact AvantiGas on 0870 753 9999 and in the case of a fire call 999 notifying them that the fire involves LPG. Please note a gas order is NOT an emergency. Should you be able to, turn off the gas at the main shut off valve under the tank hood. For any indoor gas leak switch off the emergency valve, open doors and windows to ventilate the building and contact your installer or the engineer who maintains your appliances

Emergency Gas Leak or Fire - Mains Gas

If you smell gas, have a gas leak, or are worried about a gas appliance leaking carbon monoxide, make sure you:

  • turn off your gas supply at the meter and leave it switched off until you’re told it’s safe

  • open all doors and windows for ventilation

  • don’t turn any electrical switches on or off

  • don’t smoke, strike matches/lighters or do anything that could cause a spark/ignition – and put out any naked flames

  • open doors manually, instead of using electrical entry phones/locks

If you think you’ve been exposed to carbon monoxide, visit your GP as soon as you can. You can call the Gas Emergency Services free on 0800 111 999 – any time of the day or night. They’ll sort out the problem and advice you on how to stay safe.
